Nursery Decoration

Even though my child’s birth is months away I want to gather as many decorating baby nursery ideas as possible. I have a general baby nursery decorating idea in mind but I’m looking for creative ways to add my own personal touches.

Nursery Decoration

Since you already have a decorating baby nursery concept it should be relatively easy to complement your nursery decoration idea with one of the following suggestions.
Creating the perfect environment starts with just one good idea and grows from there. One of the best places to start enhancing your current decorating baby nursery idea is to search related websites for photos of rooms that give you either the look, color or feel you want to create in your own child’s environment.

The good thing about baby rooms is that they tend to be small which makes them ideal for experimenting with stenciling and creative painting techniques. Use the nursery as your opportunity to try any painting techniques you may have just thought about but were never brave enough to try on the main areas of your home.
When looking for a good baby nursery decorating idea there is research to support that bold and colorful is more visually stimulating than say a soft and lacy approach would be.
My recommendation is to strive for a balance between the two. In my mind, the goal is to provide stimulation but in a calm and cozy environment.
Simple is often best. Just think of all the extra laundry and ironing you’ll have to do if you base your baby’s nursery on a Victorian lace theme. Don’t get me wrong, I love lace but it has its place and it isn’t in the room of a newborn.
A subtle nursery decoration approach is also good especially if you’re planning on mixing and matching different colors and patterns. The key is to make sure that any fabrics and wall treatments you select have some color and pattern elements in common. The last thing you want to do is overpower the room with a bold pattern. Remember simple and understated is often the best way to go. Stimulating your infant is one thing overwhelming her is another.
It’s best to decide on a nursery decoration look or theme that has lasting appeal. Once you narrow down your decorating baby nursery ideas you can start looking for accompanying furnishings to finish the room.
A wise parent selects a nursery decoration theme or motif than can be retained through the toddler years. The advantage of this is you won’t have to redecorate prior to your child starting kindergarten.
Following are some good decorating baby nursery ideas:
    * Provide your baby with a bookcase that will grow with her. As an infant the bookcase can be used as part of the nursery decoration theme to highlight decor accessories and toys. Later on, the same bookcase can be used for picture books and favorite collections.
    * Framed prints and decorative shelving that displays cherished playthings can add personality to the room.
    * A wall mural is a wonderful way of creating a unique space for your baby.
    * Incorporate baskets and hooks into your overall baby nursery decorating idea.
    * Enhance your existing window treatment(s) with a display of favorite infant outfits hung on the edge of a decorative shelf installed just above the window frame.
    * Turn an ordinary dresser into a work of art by stenciling or drawing a motif that compliments your baby’s nursery decoration theme.
Where possible, decorating baby nursery completion should be done before not after your newborn arrives. Reasons for this include minimizing the chance of exposing your newborn baby to paint fumes and the fact that once your infant arrives you’ll have plenty of other things to occupy your time.
It’s also important that any baby nursery decorating idea that you incorporate into your infant’s room is not only practical but safe.
Speaking of safety, pregnant women need to be extra careful especially when climbing ladders and using toxic supplies like furniture strippers.
So there you have it, some creative decorating baby nursery and nursery decoration ideas that will hopefully inspire a great baby nursery decorating idea of your own.
